The moment we wake up it begins: the rushed hustle and bustle of ordinary daily life. The modern world’s momentum takes us with every tick of the clock–into the shower, onto the road, taking the children to school and ourselves to work. Then back home again to do it all the next day. The information age with its relentless assault of images and soundbites bombards us with advertising and promotion on billboards, television, newspapers, social media, always seeding discontent. Our minds either run ahead, imagining what we’ll do and say, planning for the next hour, for tomorrow, or rummage over yesterday again, consumed by memories, reveries, and regrets.

Occasionally questions come: What do I do all this for? Am I truly inhabiting my own life or just going through the motions? Is there more? What is the sense and aim of my existence? Of our existence on earth?

The Red Mountain Study Group invites inquiries from people, no matter what their beliefs, who are still searching for the meaning of their lives now and here. Our work is based on the teaching of G. I. Gurdjieff.

‘…and from then on there gradually arose in me that “something” which has brought the whole of me to the unshakeable conviction that, apart from the vanities of life, there exists a “something else” which must be the aim and ideal of every more or less thinking man, and that it is only this something else which may make a man really happy and give him real values, instead of the illusory “goods” with which in ordinary life he is always and in everything full.’
